Storyboard Questions

1. Our audience are students that want a change in their school.

2. Our voice is coming from the minds of the students that want to change their school for good. Persuasive and motivating.

3. Our dramatic questions are:

• Do you think this is boring?
• Like it parents?
• Tests? Ppfff who needs tests?

Kind of.
At the end of the video al questions ate answered.

4. This will help teachers, parents and students. And scientists will help us with our idea because our idea is totally supportes by science.

5. Our major obstacle will be parents because they will not trust the new systems of education. We will overpower them by persuading them in to the idea.

6. Colors, cool architecture and the elimination of strandarized testing helps generate creataivity and if the studentsd are allowed to be creatove at all times they will learn faster because they are learning their way.

7. Students: they want school to be fun and productive.
Parents: their kids will have a higher academic level.
Teachers: they will have less work and a fun way to teach.
Admin: their school will have higher leevels in everything which benefits them.

8. Sad and happy music.

9. Before after style.

School Improving Script

Felipe: Do you think this is boring?

(Pictures of really boring schools)

Felipe: Yeah, I knew you would think that way. What if schools looked a little like this:

(Picture of amazing schools, colorful and modern classrooms, cool architecture, etc.)

Nicolas: Our idea is to redesign the school architecture wise and evaluating systems. We would like the classrooms to be redesigned in the way that color will be very present in the classroom plus having more modern furniture such as sofa-chairs and more advanced technology.

Nicolas: Not only will you have fun with these classrooms:

(Classroom pictures)

Nicolas: But look at this amazing campus:

(campus pictures)

Pablo: Not only will you have fun, but, your education will be a lot higher in quality! In every single aspect! Even if you don't believe it:

*SCIENTIFIC FACTS*

Pablo: I know parents will think this will distract you but, I bet they will like this:

*EFFECTIVENESS OF CLASSROOMS*

Pablo: Like it parents? Yeah, we do too.

Felipe: Your kids will love to go to school from now on!

Nicolas: Let's be realistic, nobody likes test. Not even the teachers. So why not change this into a more complex way of evaluating standards and benchmarks.

Pablo: Our idea is to have projects evaluating the same standards that a test wants to grade but the difference will be that the students will be allowed to mix their own creativity to their work.

Felipe: Every class will have at least one technology unit per semester to mix computer skills with learning. The "paper and pencil" style will be used sprangly.

Revised And Changed Myth

BEFORE:

Once upon a time, in London United Kingdom. A magical witch founded a school called “Rowena’s Castle of Wizardry” in honor of the gods. In the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, Rowena grabbed a pair of scissors and gave them to her baby Stacy (she was 3 years old) and she cut the ribbon celebrating the opening of the school. In that moment, Rowena gave her necklace to her daughter (it had goddess Athena in the middle).
36 years later...
Stacy’s daughter Alisha attended her grandmother’s school and she was in 8th grade. she was the best student of her grade (by far). She had n amazing talent in battle magic. Her dream was to be the captain of the battle team of her school and remain being the best student.
Her school was placed on a floating rock in the sky. The students transported themselves magically to the school so there was no need for school buses. Every single day was like this for her. She never had trouble getting things done. One day she was walking down the hallway and she encountered her battle club trainer, he told her that they had a very important meeting at 3:30 in the gym.
She went to the gym at that time and her coach had them sitting down in a circle on the floor. “Ladies, today we will name the new captain of our club”, he said. Everyone was really exited. “Our new captain is... Alisha!”, he finished. Alisha in the moment jumped into the air in excitement. Lindsey, her worst enemy since kindergarden stared at her with madness and grief.
“Thank you guys so much for this opportunity and this honor, I promise to be the best captain this team has ever had”, said Alisha panting with excitement. After the practice her coach gave her the contract for her to sign. The condition to remain captain was to attend practice practice every single plus write essays on the development of the team. In the middle of her emotion she didn’t consider that it was going to be a little heavy and she signed the contract.
For and entire week she attended practice happily. Although, she was noticing she was having less free time because she also needed her homework done on time and with perfect quality. Two weeks later, her science teacher came to her and told her to come to his room at the end of the day. She did so. “Alisha, I have a preposition to make; I want you  to be an executive member of the Wizard Council (Student Council), are you in?”, he asked. She was completely astonished because she always wanted to a member. She said yes instantly. The requirements were to keep high grades, to stay one hour after her battle practice and to have no discipline problems.
Alisha was filled with happiness, she was so excited that when she got home she told her mom. Stacy was very happy for her daughter, but also a little bit worried.
Over the days Alisha completed her duties in her classes, as captain of the school’s battle club, and as an executive member of the Wizard Council. In the middle of all these hard duties she didn’t notice that she wasn’t in touch with any of her friends and that she was sleeping less and not very good.
The next morning on school she was practically sleepwalking because she wasn’t having good sleep.
Walking down the hallway she saw her battle coach. “Hey captain, hey I need you to make a page about every teammate for tomorrow please”, he said. Alisha panted. Then she saw Mr. Sprout (director of the Wizard Council). “Alisha, I need you to help me this afternoon with the decorations of the homecoming, can I count on you?”, he asked. “I, I...”, she mumbled. “Great, see you there”, he said walking way. Oh no, oh no, oh no”, she thought in her mind. She saw both her english and math teachers at the same time. “Remember the project is for tomorrow”, they said together. Alisha started to run to run down the hallway desperately. When she was right in front of her locker, she fell down and all of her books landed on the floor. When she looked up, the least wanted person was looking at her.
Lindsey, her worst enemy. “Oh, look who is on the floor, Alisha, the granddaughter of the founder of this school. Hahahahahahaha, whats wrong? Can’y you handle the pressure anymore. I always knew the position of captain was rightfully mine, another thing you ruined”, she said with anger. “Shut up! You don’t get all the privileges i get for one reason; you are a horrible person”, Alisha said with pleasure. “Me?, at least i wasn’t the one that ruined another persons’ life!”, she shouted.
                                                              “FLASHBACK”
“Welcome back kindergarden students!”, said the teacher. “So, you guys are going to draw what you did on spring break”. Lindsey was sitting beside Alisha; they had a cup of water for both of them. Alisha turned around to ask the teacher a question and she accidentally spilled the water all over Lindsey’s pants. “Oh, I am sorry Lindsey”, Alisha apologized. The entire class started: “Lindsey peed her pants” over and over. Before Alisha could do anything else could do anything else, she ran out of the class crying.
                                                                  "REALITY"
“Oh m god, seriously?” said Alisha. “I can’t believe you are still mad at me for that stupid accident that happened 7 years ago”. “Not if they called you Pipi Pants for over three years more. “You are jealous”, Alisha said. “You admit that you are having trouble being the best”, Lindsey said. Alisha stayed quite, she couldn’t say anything else because that was her darkest secret.
“Well... you are having trouble finding friends!” said Alisha. In that same moment Lindsey jumped over Alisha to hit her; they were on the floor hitting each other and screaming. The principal came to them and separated them with a flick of his wand. “What is going on?!” he demanded to know. Suddenly, Alisha loss strengths and fainted.
She woke up in the nurse, she noticed her mom was talking to the nurse to know what happened. “I can’t keep up with this anymore”, she whispered to herself. When she was strong enough to stand, she went home. When she was in her bedroom, her grandfather came in. “Hey, your mom told me you fainted today in school, I know why”. Alisha looked a him. “You have too many responsibilities Alisha, you are loosing friends, focus and concentration and most importantly; rest. Your mom use to be the same, she had the same problem when she was in eighth grade. What she did to fix it was really simple. “What?”, Alisha asked.
“Drop some of it off; not all of that can be as important as you relationship with your friends, nor your brain getting damaged from so much work”, he finished tapping her for head with his finger.
The next day at school she went to her battle coach and told him that she dropped of as captain, and that she just wanted to be another member of the team. Later that day, she went to Mr. Sprout and told him she didn’t want to be in the Wizard Council anymore.
The results couldn’t be more satisfying. She was sleeping very well and she had a lot more time for her friends. Still, she was the best student of the entire grade.
One of her friends told her that they named Lindsey captain and that she was also accepted in the Wizard Council. Alisha thought it was going to be hell but then she realized that she was going to suffer the same way she did or even more.
The next morning Lindsey came and bragged her new titles in Alisha’s face. Alisha said two things: Congratulations and It not as it seems. Lindsey was really confused.
That night in her house her mom came into her room. “Hey hon, I heard that you dropped off as captain and as a member of the council”. “Yeah, it was not worth it”, Alisha said. “I remember I used to be like that too, my father told me to drop all those things, or at least to try and not have too many responsibilities. Always remember Alisha, the gods are always there for you, they lead you to the right path. Stacy took her necklace and gave it to Alisha. “Thanks mom”, she said.
In the end, Alisha’s secret was revealed, she could’t be the best in everything.

Expert Input On Piece Of Work

Stepfather: Watch out for grammatical and vocabulary errors. Especially with punctuation that there are a lot of errors concerning that. Also watch for run-on sentences because the lack of pauses makes the reader feel bored.

Brother: I like the story. You need to change that you are repeating to much into more complex words to make your writing more interesting. Also make sure that the divisions of your paragraphs have a specific meaning.

Tomas U: Simple grammar and typos are present in your writing so you just need to change those. Also make your ideas more clear for the reader to have more fun reading you stories.

Questions About School Improvement

What need does it satisfy?

The need it satisfies is to be in a relaxed and comfortable environment fornthem not to be bored in school and for the students to like to go to school which ends up in student improvement.

What do teachers and principals get out of this change?

Teachers would gain that their students would learning more thorughly and it makes the school higher in academic level which benefits the directors and the principals. Students would gain the privilages of having a more "alive classroom" and their parents would benefit because their kids wouldmlike to go to school and they learn more than before.

5 details of the plan we want to implement:

According to research blue walls promote creativity, so paint the walls blue
Instead of normal desks and chairs = sofas WITH a desk.
Instead of stairs, we want to put slides.
The classroom needs to have a view.
More projects and less tests.

Peer question: How are you going to prevent thr students of bring distracted?

The colors and the decorations we are putting in the classroom are focused on educstion. More important things are going to have colors that call your attention.

7 Elements Of Digital Story Telling

Point Of View: express your point of view clearly.

Dramatic Question: a question that you use to leave the audience with a doubt, then you need to answer it as you go on in your story.

Emotion: you need to make you viewer care.

Voice: putting your personality in your presentation.

Soundtrack: interesting music and sounds.

Economy: state your ideas clearly and be concise.

Pacing: don't spend a lot of time or little time on a topic, measure how much time you need for each section of your presentation.

End-Of-Year Portfolio Sections

ETHICS:

Dictator PPP: we hadmto choose a certain dictatornand make a PowerPoint presentation about the dictator you choosed. I learned a lot about Hirohito (Emperor of Japan during and after WWII) andnI learned things about that country that I never knew before and what he really did during those years of war.

SOCIALES:

Independence Poster: we needed to make a poster about the Independence of Colombia and all the aspects of that specific date. I learned the true meaning of what the colombians wanted to do and that independence was not their initail purpose.

ENGLISH:

The books I have read were: The Sea of Monsters, The Uglies, Shakespeare's Stealer, The Help, The Odyssey, and The Gatekeepers

Science Fic Project: In the unit of science fiction I made a project about how humans can change eye color in the future in more diverse ways. I learned a lot about surgeries and implants that you can have to change the color of your eyes and how did those can evolution to something more sofisticated in the future. I learned a lot in this project because I am very interested in medicine.

SOCIAL STUDIES:

Justinian Protest Poster: this could something that I am moat proud of. Thr assignment was to do a poster pretending you were protesting in the Byzantine Empire against Emperor Justinian. Mine was about how religion is NOT a reasonnto discriminate somebody. My poster had that exact message at the top and had a crying eye cryingnon top of the symbols of all the religions. I learned that Justinian was a very racsist person and that he did not like anyone that was not like him.

MATH:

Mathematician Report: Me and my partener Nicolas Cruz made a essay regardi of the greatest mathematicians and philosofers in the world: Bertrand Russell. He was a british philosofer that erote many books of various topics, one being how he invented the Russell's paradox which is an algebreic concept.

SCIENCE:

Nitrogen Atom Model: I had to make a 3d representing a Nitrogen Atom showing every single part ofnan atom. Protons, neutrons, electrons and mwny other cool facts from that atom the the periodic table.

SPANISH:

Book: Farehnheit 451

Nazi Germany Project: Me and my partner Nicolas Cruz made a 20 minute documentary about Nazi Germany, the Third Reich and the Schutztaffel. We learned A LOT about the topic especially how this orhanization began long before the war and how did the manage to become so powerfull. These is a lot more behind the Holocaust. We built a deeper knowledge of what WWII was really about. Which is far more than what people think.

MUN:

RMUNX: This model i attended was perhaps one of the best in my 2 years of Model United Nations. I was assigned the Historical Security Council tomrepresent the Soviet Union. The topics were very complex: Pinochet in Vhile and the separation of Yugoslavia. I won the best spokesmen of the committe and also the SmartyPants Award.

Obstacles And Help!

One of the many obstacles that might step in our way of making classrooms more fun and productive is the parent boards or adults that will certainly criticize the idea. Since all of our parents were raised old school with the grey classroom and environment they think that is the best way to learn because that is the way they learned (always thinking is the best). They certainly want their children to learn the same way they did. For the majority of adults it seems inappropriate for a classroom to be full of decorations and have sofas and being really colorful. They need to understand that the decoration will be educational. If you are in a history room the decorations will be related with history. The colors are precisely to make the environment more relaxed for the ideas in your head to flow more freely and creativity to be more oresent in the student's work.

People that will help us will be scientists that have proven that colors improve a child's ability to memorize and learn. They will help us because every society wants to have the best education so if our idea contributes to get to that goal they will certainly help us.

School Improving Project Issues

• Classroom environment is boring which blocks the mind from thinking critically.

• Teachers are teaching the way they think is correct NOT taking into account how the students learn in better ways.

• Lack of technology in certain areas of the school.

• The time we are going to school is in some cases non-productive so we propose to come to school and do everything you need to do and then leave (no matter the time you take doing stuff)

• Becoming mandatory for teachers to let the students express their creativity in their work.

ALL FOR A BETTER EDUCATION

Schools Kill Creativity Video Main Ideas

• Aesthetic environment are better than anesthetics in all their ways.

• As time goes by, education is diversifying their ways of pedagogy.

• Creativity is bale to show what's going on in the human brain.

• Working in groups is more effective than working individually.

• A person learns best when the learn the way they feel most comfortable with.

• Creativity is what leads people to success.

• People shouldn't standarize everything that they teach.

Who Was Shakespeare UNDERSTANDING

We took notes about the video en studied them. Which are the following:

• Born in 1564.

• John Shakespeare and Mary Arden were his parents.

• Stratford upon Avon was the town where he was born.

• Went to school when he was 13 years old.

• 1582 married Anne Hathaway.

• Suzana, Hamlet and Judith were his children.

• At the age of 27 (1591) moved to London.

• He wrote 37 plays and 154 sonnets.

• He lived during Elizabethan England's era

• During that time the needed to close down the play houses because of the spread of diseases.

• The book of psalms (the book in the bible that was mostly songs and poems) Shakespeare translated it.

• The public will go out to see executions, the  they would stick them on poles to demostrate what happens when you break the law.

• The didn't had good sanitations (poop in the forest).

• The queen liked him and he often asked him to write plays about her life, she had a lot of influence in his work.

• The theatres were in the worst plays of poor neighborhoods because it was entertainment for poor people.

• He had lot of mistresses (fooled around a lot).

• He had a lot of money during his life time.

• All of the actors were men, even the female parts were played by men.

• Histories/comedies/tragedies (three categories of his plays)

Histories: they were abot the monarchy (boring).

Comedies: distinguished because they had happy endings and had a lot of humor.

Tragedies: Include people dying in the end (everything that does not have a happy ending and are not about the british monarchy).

Who Was Shakespeare KNOWING

We watched a video in class about his life and his work.

Midsummer Night's Dream Project ANALYZING

We pulled pulled out the actual script of the play, for example:

"Full of vexation come I, with complaint
Against my child, my daughter Hermia.
Stand forth, Demetrius. My noble lord,
This man hath my consent to marry her.
Stand forth, Lysander: and my gracious duke,
This man hath bewitch'd the bosom of my child;
Thou, thou, Lysander, thou hast given her rhymes,
And interchanged love-tokens with my child:
Thou hast by moonlight at her window sung,
With feigning voice verses of feigning love,
And stolen the impression of her fantasy
With bracelets of thy hair, rings, gawds, conceits,
Knacks, trifles, nosegays, sweetmeats, messengers
Of strong prevailment in unharden'd youth:
With cunning hast thou filch'd my daughter's heart,
Turn'd her obedience, which is due to me,
To stubborn harshness: and, my gracious duke,
Be it so she; will not here before your grace
Consent to marry with Demetrius,
I beg the ancient privilege of Athens,
As she is mine, I may dispose of her:
Which shall be either to this gentleman
Or to her death, according to our law
Immediately provided in that case."

•We analyzed the use of english that Shakespeare expressed in his writing and we focused on three major factors:

Vocab Words: the words he used in the play are really difficult to understand in this part of the play the most difficult word was FEIGNING. Really the only word in this line we had trouble with, then; we found the definition for the word: to pretend to feel something, especially an emotion.

Pauses: each individual phrase of the line is often separated by a comma. Those pauses are very confusing since he is not using a transitional word but he just pauses ands then makes the character say the next clause.

Old English: The play is written in old english which makes the grammar and the vocabulary distinguish, since it is a play the lines are made for the actors to act them out. The words and where he puts the words in completely different from the language we speak today. So, that's why things like "come I" are not exactly grammatically incorrect.
